Preparation is now faster and easier with Dulux 1 Step

New Dulux 1 Step Primer, Sealer & Undercoat, for superior multi-surface preparation of interior and exterior surfaces.Dulux 1 Step Paint

Dulux 1 Step will assist you to achieve the best possible paint finish on both interior and exterior surfaces. It has been specially formulated to provide superior adhesion, stain blocking, tannin blocking and rust resistance. As it's a primer, sealer and undercoat in one, it will also save time and money! Available in Acrylic and Oil Based.

Dulux 1 Step

  • Helps the top coat go on easier, look better and last longer
  • Does not flow like a top coat. It is designed to stay where it is put to help fill imperfections and even up porosity of surfaces
  • Is easy to sand. Dulux 1 Step should be sanded smooth as the top coat will mirror the finish of the undercoat
  • Has high opacity, to ensure superior hiding powers over previous colours. This allows the top coat to deliver the true colour
  • Provides great adhesion to exterior timber for oil or acrylic topcoats
  • Can be tinted to greatly improve the coverage of bright topcoats

Handy Tips

  • Ensure the surface temperature is above 10ºC during both application and drying time. Low temperatures can cause poor flow, resulting in unnecessary brush and roller marks meaning more sanding
  • Using the right equipment is also important. Good quality synthetic brushes are the best
  • When rolling it is important to use the right type of sleeve.

If applying Dulux 1 Step to a smooth or semi-smooth surface a nap length of 12mm will be best. On very rough uneven surfaces a nap of up to 20mm may be required

Adding splashes of colour

Want to add a splash of colour to your home but don’t want to paint an entire room or wall?

Gretchen Flynn, Dulux colour expert, shares some ideas on interesting ways to add colour to your home renovation:

  • Collect shells, stones and branches, paint these and then group them together in a bowl.
  • Liven up your fireplace when it’s not in use, and make it a focal point of the room by painting pinecones.
  • Paint different sized and shaped jars and bottles and group them together.
  • Keep an eye out for different styled chairs at op shops or garage sales. Paint each chair a different colour for an eclectic and unique look.
  • Dip leaves in coloured paint and place them in a bowl to create a gorgeous and unique centrepiece.
  • Pick up a canvas at your local art and craft store, and paint it in a contrasting hue to your walls. Not only will you have a unique piece of art, but it will also add interest to your walls.
