I was born in China and lived there most of my life with my family. From high school, I attended the local university and pursued a career in accounting. My parents were very supportive and encouraged me all throughout my tertiary education and career.
As a qualified accountant in China for several years, I was searching for a new challenge. While I enjoyed accounting, I was passionate about construction.
I then decided to follow my dreams of learning and working in the construction industry, particularly in the field of quantity surveying. With this new career path in front of me, I had the opportunity to study in New Zealand in my preferred industry. With a great deal of excitement and anticipation, I moved to New Zealand to chase my dreams.
I currently live in West Auckland while studying part-time at Unitec to complete my Quantity Surveying qualification. While I have been studying, I gained work experience in plan measuring, tender price estimating and cost control in both the commercial and residential construction areas. I also have experience in carpentry and site management in Auckland, which assists me in my work. My accounting background requires an attention for detail and strong numerical skills, both of which I can apply to my role as Estimator. I really enjoy the technical challenges that come with my role and I am learning lots.
In my personal time I enjoy reading books, because it gives me a sense of fulfillment. My target is to read at least one book per month however I usually try to find lots of time to read and manage more than this. I also like travelling with my friends, especially around New Zealand where we can appreciate the beauty of the New Zealand countryside and landscapes and learn about the history of every town we visit.
I speak Mandarin Chinese and English.
