LOCATION: Wellington, New Zealand
The project included a kitchen refurbishment and the installation of a louvre roofing system in the outdoor area. The client wanted to refurbish her kitchen; with new joinery over the bench, a new engineered stone benchtop and island, a new gas hob, rangehood and tap. Wellington landscaping specialist Steve Strawbridge assisted renovation specialist Lia Boersma in providing a cover for the patio. It was decided that a louvre roofing system would provide the best cover and would look really smart with the style of the house.
Once the kitchen and louvre system were installed, the client also wanted to look at options that would offer privacy from the road. The client decided on a laser cut design privacy screen which was overlaid on a photo and powder coated. This added to the overall timeframe and cost of the project.
The final cost of the project included a kitchen cabinet variation, which was more expensive than the original choice, and the addition of the privacy screen. The original projects; the kitchen refurbishment and louvre system, were installed within the estimated time frame.
In early December the client decided on the privacy screen installation. It was hoped that it would be installed prior to Christmas, however transport issues created a delay. The screen was transported down to Wellington in the second week of December but was not delivered to site until the beginning of January due to the Christmas overload. The screen was installed within the second week of January.
