This case study showcases a safe, stylish bathroom renovation with walk-in showers and accessibility features for long-term comfort.
This standalone brick-and-tile home needed a bathroom and ensuite makeover to create safe, modern, and long-lasting spaces for the homeowners. The couple wanted to future-proof their forever home, ensuring it would remain comfortable and easy to use as they aged.
The renovation included:
The clients wanted spaces that were not just functional, but also relaxing and bright. Their budget was $80,000, and the project was completed in 10 weeks.
The Refresh Renovation team worked closely with the homeowners from the very beginning. Through design consultations, the clients chose their preferred tiles, vanities, and fittings. The focus was on creating a space that felt modern, practical, and safe while also looking stylish.
Key design choices included:
Refresh also managed council consent, provided complete project management, and oversaw quality control throughout the entire project.
The old bathrooms were completely stripped out. Walls were prepared for new tiles, plumbing was updated, and the layout was adjusted to accommodate the new walk-in showers.
Both bathrooms were fitted with tiled, level-entry showers, making them easy to step into. Grab rails were installed in both showers and the bath for extra safety.
The ensuite and bathroom were fitted with modern vanities from trusted suppliers, ensuring plenty of storage while keeping a sleek design.
Light grey matt tiles from Tile Depot were laid across the floors and walls, brightening the spaces and making them feel much larger.
A new bathroom window was installed to bring in more natural light, and adjustments were made so all fittings sat neatly in place.
All plastering and painting were completed with Resene paint, tying the rooms together with a clean finish.
No renovation is without its challenges.
By quickly fixing these issues, the team ensured the final result was seamless and to the clients’ satisfaction.
For the clients, this project was about more than just appearance. It was about long-term comfort and safety.
They wanted spaces that felt modern and enjoyable, while also being practical for everyday use. They especially loved how the level-entry showers made the bathrooms easier and safer to use.
The clients were thrilled with the result, saying the rooms felt lighter, brighter, and much more welcoming. Their grandchildren can also enjoy the updated bath, adding joy to family visits.
The team worked with trusted suppliers to ensure quality and durability:
These products not only improved the look but also added to the long-term value of the home.
The bathrooms are now modern, beautiful and future proofed. With level-entry showers, neutral tones, and feature tiles, the spaces feel bigger and brighter.
The clients were “over the moon” with the finished result. The makeover not only transformed their bathrooms but also gave them peace of mind, knowing the spaces are practical for years to come.
