Awhina Kopu-Lowerson - Auckland Administration Manager
Born and bred in Auckland, I have always viewed life in terms of the expression, ‘the glass is half full’. In this way, I’ve stayed true to my Maori heritage and morals. At 17, I met my husband and we have 3 vibrant children.
On my down time, you can often find me weaving kete, painting, socialising with family and friends. At other times, I’m feeding my adrenaline addiction with new exciting adventures. I am an avid softball supporter for my children’s club teams and can be seen volunteering every season, whether as a team manager or just scoring the games. Travelling is a passion of mine, whether it’s camping around New Zealand or travelling overseas and relaxing on a tropical beach. My husband and I are in the process of building our dream home in Hillsborough, Auckland, so I’m able to draw on my work experience as we navigate through the building process.
I have had an eclectic work history ranging from hospitality through to travel and tourism to the most recent years working in the building industry.
I initially joined the Refresh Group in 2013 working in the Head Office. I was part of a small team that looked after 31 Refresh Branches in New Zealand. After a year, I gave birth to my third child and decided to make a career change. This led to taking a position as Administrator for an Auckland branch named KKG Limited, which is owned and operated by my sister and my brother-in-law Del and Jim Gleeson. At KKG Limited, I have learned a lot about the building processes, rules and regulations from ground level and have developed a sense of achievement in my career.
With over 4 years administrative experience working for Refresh Renovations, I am well versed in the processes.
I was awarded the Administrator of the Year in 2014 and 2016.
I have recently been promoted to Administration Manager.
