Renovation specialist and project manager Peter Jenkins grew up in the Bay of Plenty region and has always had a passion for construction. He has worked as a builder’s labourer while studying mechanical engineering, and then worked as an engineer and project manager in the petrochemical, dairy, and food-and-beverage industries throughout New Zealand. 

Peter has a strong technical background and a practical attitude. Renovations have always been a part of his life, and Peter has fond childhood memories of working on the family home: 

“I’m passionate about it and it doesn’t even feel like a job.”

Prior to joining Refresh, Peter’s experience was mostly in new builds and industrial construction: 

“There is a certain amount of optimisation which is possible with new builds, as often the same plans are rolled out again and again. The Refresh model helps apply some of the same efficiencies to renovations, while still allowing the client’s individual ideas to be achieved.”

Peter spent over seven years in Taranaki but was based more-recently in Auckland. However, Peter and his family love the beach and the lifestyle the Tauranga region allows. 

“It was time to be closer to family and friends, and I was tired of wasting so much time in the car. After work, it is great to be close to the best activities: swimming at Mount Maunganui beach, mountain biking near Rotorua Redwood Forest, and walking to local cafes and restaurants.”

He is also passionate about football and often returns to the annual football tournament at Tauranga City AFC on Labour Day weekend.
