A home renovation in St Heliers
At first unsure if they wanted to sell or renovate, Tony and Harriet Iro decided to embark on a complete makeover of their old home. After a renovation with significant changes to the floor plan and two extensions, the Iro house is now a modern family haven.
Subdividing, renovating and extending a property
Although Tim and Kristy’s former home had ‘good bones’ and a classic 70s design, it was badly in need of love. The renovation process started when they moved the house 40m back from its original position. Now, they are thrilled with the results.
A villa built in 1919 is authentically restored and stylishly renovated into a comfortable and energy-efficient family home under the careful instructions of a dedicated couple who were determined to leave nothing to chance in the pursuit of their dream.
Historic House Renovation
This 100 year plus villa was transplanted to where it now enjoys both sea and bush views at the back of the house. Our customer wanted to be able to make the most of those features with a covered deck. They also wanted a laundry door added and laundry re lined for a new cabinet system. We demolished the old deck and put in new posts and beams using glulam beams so that we could get a wide span for the view. We then put timber slates as a feature. A traditional roof and soffit was put onto the side of the house to keep in with the original features. The handrail matches the front of the house as does the lacework.
Creating flow on a budget
Roger and Miriama desperately needed a new outdoor living area and a better indoor-outdoor flow. “We had a sense of what we wanted for the deck. The builders suggested what they thought would work best for the flow; we agreed and they went for it. The result is just great!” says Miriama.
